What would Berlin and the world look like if young people from Neukölln could shape them? On the new Open Space by the Bürgerstiftung Neukölln in the BERLIN GLOBAL exhibition, eleven young people talk about the imbalances of the present and show their visions for a fairer future.

The children of today are the adults of tomorrow. They are superdiverse, rarely heard, and seldom taken seriously. What changes do they envision, what do they dream of? The young project participants take an unflinching look at their everyday lives, their city, and politics. Based on their experiences, they develop strong demands for justice, freedom of expression, and solidarity – values and actions urgently needed in our migration society.

On the exhibition space in the room Interconnection, visitors can become queens and kings themselves. Sitting on the throne, they are invited to actively reject present-day problems and join the young people in creating a better future.

We may be different in many ways, but in the end we are all equal – let’s dance together!

The opening will feature a DJ set by sherryaeri.

Participants

Bürgerstiftung Neukölln

Since 2005, countless Neuköllners have engaged with their community through the Bürgerstiftung Neukölln (Community Foundation Neukölln), working to harness the diverse potential of the district. Their shared vision is a joyful, livable Neukölln, where all people can actively shape their neighbourhood and develop successfully. The foundation’s projects advocate for social participation, respectful interaction on equal footing, and fair educational opportunities.

DJ sherryaeri

DJ sherryaeri considers music and parties highly political and tries to present artists and genres that do not receive as much space as they should. Sherryaeri mixes different styles with Arabic sounds and takes us on a “genrefluid” journey – through Rap Edits, Jersey Club, Baile Funk and Electro Chaabi, just to name a few. Through this, sherryaeri manages to give us a sense of belonging and celebrate our multidimensional realities. Sherryaeri has already enchanted the masses internationally at festivals like Splash in Germany, clubs like Yuyu in Mexico City or renowned events like Boiler Room. One thing is clear: Their sounds always promote booty shaking, stress relief and letting go of the pressure under capitalist, patriarchal white supremacy.

In the Humboldt Forum's foyer there is a 17 meter high media tower, called "cosmograph". It gives visitors comprehensive information about their visit and can transform into an art and light installation.
