Ground Floor, Schlüter Courtyard |
Belongs to: Meet the palace |
As darkness falls in the SchlüterCourtyard, Tim Trantenroth’s work Ohne Titel in the Stair Hall is illuminated. Although this may look as if a vast cubist building is encroaching into the Stair Hall, the wall is completely flat – this is in fact a large-scale mural.
This illusory, painted grid also sparks another association: with its familiar colours, the picture evokes memories of the façade of the Palace of the Republic – a building still very present in many people’s minds. The Humboldt Forum’s direct predecessor appears here in a subtle picturesque form. The work is one of the seven competition winners for the Art in Architecture installations at the Humboldt Forum.
