In Berlin she presents her new show “СУПЕРАЛИСӘ ҖЫР ТЕАТРЫ / SUPERALISA Theatre of Song”, consisting of electro hits from 2004 album as well as of her new songs.
As the show decoration set is based on kitschy tradition of Tatar pop culture, Alisa ostentatiously lip-synchs to her own songs into blingy toy mic to illustrate a typical pop artist.
Alisa deeply admires Tatar culture in all its facets thus audience can expect surprises.
SUPERALISA is a music project by Tatar artist, Alisa Khusainova, born in 1978 in Kazan, the capital of Republic Tatarstan.
Her repertoire consists of original songs: she is the author, the clip director and costume designer and producer. Her music mixes Tatar folk elements, Muslim culture, techno, industrial inspirations of science fiction and kitsch.
Alisa’s interest in music originates in her family. Her grand grandfather played in second decade of 20th century alongside of prime Tatar composer, Salikh Saydashev. Her father played bass guitar in the first music bands of Kazan in the 1960th-1970th.
In 2001 Alisa moves to Moscow and launches her debut album “Tatarstan supergood” (2004) full of irony on cultural stereotypes. All songs on this album are based on pentatonic Tatar folklore tunes. All lyrics dedicated to scientific and technological progress are written by Alisa’s mother, one of the first female IT programmer in Kazan.
2006 Alisa stops gigging to focus entirely on her daughter and moves back to home town to deep dive into Tatar theater and pop culture. From that moment on Alisa and her daughter are regular guests on concerts and plays. She produced video clips full of symbols of Tatar culture for a couple of new songs, where she plays some traditional Turkic-Tatar instruments (saz, kubyz (jew’s harp), quray, daph-tambourine). Video clip «Genghis Khan» , released in 2015 , features another family member, Alisa’s little brother Bulat, an autistic savant.
Today Alisa resumes live performing.
