As if Fela Kuti were jamming in the streets of Salvador de Bahia – the sound of the Berlin based Brazilian Afrobeat band BANTUNAGOJÊJE is rooted in the believe systems of Candomblé and is expanded by a wide variety of influences such as Afrobeat, fusion jazz and funk. The three parts of the band’s name, BANTU, NAGÔ and JÊJE, denote the three major groups of the Candomblé religion. BANTUNAGOJÊJE combines their musical influences to create a unique mix of danceable grooves. The head of the group is the Brazilian composer Paulo Cedraz, who writes the songs and arranges them with the nine-piece band.
