cocotá  (Berlin / Senegal)

The music of cocotá is a tribute to the diversity of traditional West African music that simultaneously explores new paths in other musical worlds. Vocalist Fama M’Boup and guitarist Christian Stoltz are united by their extraordinary musicality and their excessive love of Senegalese synth-pop from the 80s.

On stage, cocotá create filigree yet powerful soundscapes in which M’Boup’s vocals merge with the guitar solos – between lyrical flights of fancy and meandering thoughtfulness.
