“180 voices” – joint performance of all choirs (Foyer)
Whether at concerts in the rooms of the Ethnological Museum or in the “Kunst-am-Bau” staircase designed by Tim Trantenroth: Diversity of Voices 2024 also offers the public many new perspectives on the building and thus new thematic points of reference for engaging with the Humboldt Forum and its exhibitions.
This time, the participating choirs were asked to engage with the building, but also with the current special exhibition Blown Away: The Palace of the Republic. Among the selected Berlin choirs are therefore some whose repertoire includes GDR compositions. The songs performed by all eight choirs together in the special architecture of the large foyer (Saturday 3.00 pm & 5.30 pm) reflect on German-German history from different perspectives.
If all this singing makes you want to sing yourself, you can take a crash course in body percussion in the Mechanical Arena or join in with circle singing. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The project and the 8 choirs are presented here.
A cooperation with the Chorverband Berlin
The Chorverband Berlin e.V. is the largest amateur music organization in the capital and the most important forum for Berlin’s amateur choir scene.
With its diverse activities as a professional association, organizer and sponsor, it provides intensive basic, popular and youth work and creates the necessary conditions for top performances from its own ranks.
