Fulu Miziki (Kongo DR)

Percussion explosions, Afro-Futurism, punk attitude and environmental activism… the collective Fulu Miziki from Kinshasa throughs all of this into the grinder and brings it to the stage at high speed. Fulu Miziki can be translated as ‘music made from waste’, which doesn’t just refer to the band’s instruments and masks, which they make themselves from various scrap materials. Fulu Miziki creates a rebellious sound from the everyday harshness of Kinshasa that cries out for concrete political change. The multidisciplinary artists’ collective has a clear Pan-African message and spreads its vision for an artistic and sustainable future for the African continent in workshops and youth projects.
