In Alexis Hountondji’s project Kofi, anger and vulnerability are close to one another. With his powerful sound he has already conquered international stages and festivals in France, Belgium and Senegal. Working with styles ranging from jazz-rock to dub to hip-hop and Afrobeat, the Franco-Beninese delivers a wide-ranging fusion that raises questions about coexistence, the history of North-South relations and the sacred.
After his first tour as a bass guitarist with Ghanaian rapper “Blitz the Ambassador”, he returned to Benin and released his first album Ablume (dans l’obscuritè). Since then, he has produced two albums for Togolese musician Elom 20ce, plays live drums for him, and works as a beatmaker for various artists* (Ocean Wisdom, Oxmo Puccino, RoxXxan, among others).
