The Berlin based band Onom Agemo and the Disco Jumpers catapults the heritage of Afro Beat into the here and now. Between waving synthesizer sounds and virtuoso saxophone solos, the quintet pushes the boundaries of the genre to the extreme. Explosive jazz improvisations, sparkling keyboard sounds and on top of it the extraordinary play of the exceptional guitarist Ahmed Ag Kaedy, who comes from Mali.

Hailing from Kidal in civil war-torn northern Mali, Ahmed was a youth soldier before picking up an electric guitar and becoming a man of peace and music. His own band, Amanar (“Starry Sky”), is considered one of the most influential voices in the modern, guitar-driven sound of the Sahel.
