This open seminar event is taking place as part of the preparations for the Humboldt Forum’s planned theme year “Beziehungsweise Familie” (Family Relationships) in 2025. The word “family” formulates a relationship of belonging that can be diverse in its forms. At the same time, a very specific form of it forms the nucleus of the Western concept of sociality and community, from which principles of law and morality, health and normality, temporality and meaning have been formulated. Starting from a psychoanalytical perspective, the seminar uses key texts and examples from art and culture to explore the idea of the family in its potentials and limitations. In addition to students, interested staff and visitors are also cordially invited to join in the dialogue in the foyer of the Humboldt Forum.
15–17 Uhr: Open Seminar
17–18:30 Uhr: Open Discussion
