Part of: One Object, Many Questions |
Each event in our new series entitled ‘One Object – Many Questions’ will focus on a particular exhibit, exploring its history and stories in conversation with an expert.
The censored children’s Bible from Colonia Dignidad, which can be seen in the inaugural exhibition of the Humboldt Lab, is a moving document to look at. The cult, led by German Paul Schäfer, obscured numerous passages – particularly those concerning love, marriage, sexuality and family – from children growing up in Colonia.
Birgit Rasch, Creative Producer of the recently aired, highly acclaimed documentary series Colonia Dignidad – A German Cult in Chile, will explain how the censored children’s Bible found its way into the exhibition, and talk about the intense research and work that was carried out over several years to produce the documentary.
