Train robots in football, solder together alpacas, encrypt secret information or make decisions about a bicycle lane in a digital simulation game. Play legendary retro games, design virtual-reality worlds, sample sound-clouds and print 3D pins: Let’s Code Again! at the Humboldt Forum.
We’re back with the second edition of the Code Week hands-on fair! And this time, you can partake in many more Maker Space offers, coding stations and creative workshops! New this year: A special programme in the evening for teenagers and adults.
All hands-on activities are free of charge and can be visited during the time periods mentioned above. For individual workshops, there is a limited number of participants and advance registration is possible on berlin.codeweek.de.
11 am til 5 pm
Programme for all ages outdoor and in the foyer
On 14 October 2023, the Verbund der Öffentlichen Bibliotheken Berlins (VÖBB), the Code Week Regio Hub Berlin and the Stiftung Humboldt Forum im Berliner Schloss invite you once again to tinker, program and code together.
From 11am to 5pm, the Maker Van of the Stadtbibliothek Mitte welcomes the public on the northern side of the Humboldt Forum, and encourages you to tinker around and get creative. In the foyer of the Humboldt Forum the Ethnological Museum explains how to contextualize exhibits using Virtual and Augemnted Reality. At 4pm, the pub-quiz in the foyer invites you to rack your brains on all things digital.
11 am til 4 pm
Programme for families with children aged 3+ in the Workshops on the 1st floor
From 11am to 4pm, families with children aged 3+ can operate Dash robots, Ozobots and Bee-bots and create interactive stories and holograms with Scratch. Using Sphero Indi and Oculus Quest they can discover the worlds of the Humboldt Brothers in virtual-reality and the coding station on Osmo, Micro:Bit, Calliope und Makey Makey teach basic programming skills.
5 pm til 10 pm
Programme for teenagers aged 12+ and adults in hall 2 on the ground floor
From 5pm to 10pm, there are special programmes from the fields of ‘Coding’, ‘Making’, ‘Sounds’ and ‘Empowerment’, for teenagers aged 12+ and adults. A DJ-workshop demonstrates the media technology behind DJ sets and deals with music of the African diaspora and transatlantic music. Other hands-on stations provide insights into audio sampling and music visualisation, programming of retro games and virtual-realities, 3D scanning, 3D printing and working with a Laser Cutter. In “Street View Decolonized“, a virtual city-tour provides a commentary on Berlin’s street names, and in the digital simulation game about Berlin’s district-level politics, the participants discuss and decide about a bicycle lane.
