Eye-to-eye introduction by Ebele Okoye, filmmaker and artist, Berlin
It is the eve of the big annual parade in the Elephant Kingdom. King Babar tells his four children about his childhood. When both parents were still young, the father as a little boy protected their mother as a little elephant girl under threat. Their village was attacked by the rhino king’s army. However, Barbar was able to end the war between the pachyderms. This animated adaptation of the controversial children’s classic largely succeeds in liberating itself from the colonialist elements of the original book.
