Eye-to-Eye introduction by Jeyachitra Kanapathippilai, salesperson, Berlin
Chandani, 17 years of age, wants to become a mahout like her father. In her home country Sri Lanka, the profession of an elephant leader is traditionally reserved for men. Supporting his daughter’s ambition, Chandani’s father gifts her an untrained baby elephant. For fun, the first thing the big baby does is to destroy the family’s garden! That’s but the beginning of a story about an unusual and moving friendship which invites the audience to a cinematic journey to rural Sri Lanka.
