Eye-to-Eye introduction by Salim Albert, school pupil, Berlin
In the jungles of northern Thailand, a paddy farmer and this family enjoy a completely isolated life in harmony with nature. The children play with baby monkies and calves. One day, a leopard kills a goat and a herd of wild elephants threatens their peaceful existence. This semi-documentary adventure movie recounts how the family acquires a young elephant. Chang becomes a guard, a farm animal, and a full fletched member of their household. After extremely turbulent days, the coexistence of humans and wild animals is restored. From today’s perspective the film allows time travelling in a magical era preserved celluloid. The film was made by the directors who later gained worldwide fame with King Kong.
