Two documentations deal with the pros and cons of the Palace of the Republic. While “Verlorene Mitte? Stadt, Land, Fluss – Berlin” (1996) factually juxtaposes the positions and stakeholders, Jörn Kalkbrenner in “DDR-Palast oder Preußen-Schloss? (1998) degrades the “the walking on eggshells” with satirical sharpness to a “provincial farce”. Both films show the culturally mobile Berlin after reunification. The “yes and no” becomes a playground for ideas and actions – but some already give up the center.
Film Screening in German.
