Eye-to-eye introduction by Scelo Mbahta, tour guide, South Africa
The film accompanies five young women on a hiking tour through the oldest national park in South Africa. They grew up in close proximity to the park, but have never encountered its overwhelming nature except on TV – like most of South Africa’s black population. The hiking trip reveals to the women new perspectives – on themselves, their cultural heritage, and the world they live in.
For the opening of the film programme, we have invited the director Karin Slater and two of the protagonists, Amanda Ntombela und Andile Nxumalo, to an audience discussion after the screenings.
