For 30 years, the Palace of the Republic shaped the centre of Berlin – as a representative building of East Germany with a wide range of cultural activities, as a place of peaceful revolution and German unity, as a place of decay, but also of interim use until its demolition. The tour provides an overview of the construction, function and use of the palace at various times, and invites visitors to engage with the diverse memories of the palace.
