Dance and vocal artist Yuko Matsuyama invites multi-instrumentalist Taylor Savvy to setting sound in motion. With voice, ear, and mindfulness you will accompany them.
This musical conversation is inspired by the people who carried cultures around the world – artists, merchants, monks and nuns, priests and wanderers who travelled through countries like the wind in a time without airplanes. The silent musical instruments in the showcases of the museum awaken thoughts and fantasies of these dancing and music-making travellers.

Yuko is a voice and movement artist. Her mother and master of Nihon Buyoh (Japanese classical dance) brought her into dance at age two. At 17 she completed her training in theater and joined the musical company Takarazuka Revue (Japan), where she performed in their original productions, international tours and well-known musicals. Since moving to Berlin in 2010, she has been exploring the interface between dance and music with live performances as an experimental platform.
In 2017 she received her M. A. Choreography at HZT Berlin (HfS Ernst Busch and UDK Berlin). Her workshops, lectures, and lecture performances have been seen at UDK Berlin, HZT Berlin, Casina Settarte (Italy), Berlin Asia Arts Festival and currently at the Ethnologisches Museum & Museum für Asiatische Kunst in Humboldt Forum Berlin.
