Goddess Durga is probably one of the most popular forms of the goddess (devi) along with Lakshmi, Parvati and Kali. Every year in autumn, after the rainy season in September/October, Hindus around the world celebrate the most important festival in her honor – the Durga Puja. In this colorful and exuberant spectacle, the victory of the goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura is commemorated for ten days.
In this exhibition tour, we take the festival as an opportunity to encounter a goddess who, for the faithful, is not only the origin of the universe and a benevolent mother, but also a fearsome and sometimes bloodthirsty destroyer of all evil, who must always be appeased.
