First Mozart and Monteverdi, then Beo Dat May Troi and Ngua O Thuong Nho. For their program at the Humboldt Forum, the Lichtenberg Chamber Choir is building on the BERLIN | HANOI | 2023 project, in which they explored Berlin’s Vietnamese migration history and Vietnamese songs.
The two guest musicians Hung Manh Le and Phuong Hoa Tran accompany the singers on the dan bau, the one-stringed zither, and the dan tranh, the vault board zither.
Piekfeine Töne
The Lichtenberg Chamber Choir Piekfeine Töne e.V. is a dedicated chamber choir with around 30 singers from Berlin-Lichtenberg and the surrounding area.
The choir develops a new program every six months. The focus is on a cappella works from different eras and genres, from the Renaissance to the present day. Another special focus of the choir is on music from other cultures – world music in the broadest sense. Individual jazz and pop arrangements are also incorporated into the programs.
In 2023, the choir dedicated itself to Vietnamese vocal music. In addition to the music, the BERLIN | HANOI | 2023 project was also intended to focus on the history of Vietnamese migration, as the choir’s work is closely linked to the district of Lichtenberg. Many people with a Vietnamese background live in Lichtenberg. It was therefore particularly important to the choir to recruit new singers with Vietnamese roots for the project.
