Once a month, poetry and science come together at the Humboldt Lab. This time, the renowned spoken-word poets Maroula Blades and Florian Wintels will explore the exhibition ‚After Nature‘ with live performances of their work. Visitors are invited to join them on their tour of eloquence.

Maroula Blades

Maroula Blades is an interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin. She was awarded 2nd place in the German Amadeu Antonio Prize 2023 for her multimedia project ‘Stones in Symphony’. In June 2023, she received a grant from the British Society of Authors Foundation for her in-progress novella ‘Road Eggs’. In the same year, she received a grant from the Jan Michalski Foundation for her multimedia project ‘Ominira’. In 2021, she was selected for the special INITIAL grant from the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. Her short story collection ‘The World in an Eye’ was published in 2020. Maroula’s work has been published in several magazines and anthologies. Since 1999, she has presented multimedia projects together with Jörg Heinrich in the education sector, at international festivals and at local readings.

Florian Wintels

Florian Wintels has been travelling the world’s stages since 2015. He was already performing at poetry slams during his school days in the county of Bentheim. He can now be seen in the main hall of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, among other venues.

His spectacular poems combine high-spirited lyricism, plenty of humour and profundity. ARD called him a ‘rapping slam machine’.

He has already won several hundred poetry slams, including being crowned state champion for Lower Saxony and Bremen three times and was crowned German-speaking champion in Vienna in 2022.

He also hosts various events, writes texts on a wide range of topics and events, gives workshops and is one of the top scorers in the Poetry Slam International football team!
