Poetry and science meet every month at the “Logoskop”. This time, slam poets Volker Surmann and Nils Straatmann will explore the exhibition After Nature together with live texts. Visitors are invited to accompany them on their eloquent tour.

Volker Surmann

Volker Surmann is an author, satirist, publisher and East Westphalian living in exile in East Berlin. He has published novels, short stories and anthologies, writes for the ‘taz’ and other print media, publishes books with his Satyr Verlag publishing house, reads at the ‘Brauseboys’ reading theatre and performs at poetry slams throughout the German-speaking world. He recently published the story collection Kein Schweiß aufs Buch! Saunageschichten (2022) and the young adult book Leon Hertz und die Sache mit der Traurigkeit (2024).

Nils Straatmann

Nils Straatmann is an author, presenter and slam poet. He writes articles for the Süddeutsche Zeitung, FREE MEN’s World and 3Sat, among others. His texts have appeared in anthologies published by Carlsen, Suhrkamp and Blaulicht Verlag, and have been broadcast on NDR, BR, ZDFkultur, Radio Fritz, Sat.1 Comedy and ARTE, among others. He regularly presents entertainment programmes in Leipzig, Jena and Dresden, and his travel novels Wo die Kartoffeln auf Bäumen wachsen and Auf Jesu Spuren were both published by Piper. Nils Straatmann is part of the DFB-sponsored national team of authors, where he plays in defence midfield.
