Robert Habeck (Alliance 90/The Greens) has been Minister of Economic Affairs and Vice Chancellor since 2021. Alongside Chancellor Scholz, he is one of the most visible but also most controversial representatives of the current federal government. The 55-year-old is standing as his party’s candidate for chancellor in the new elections in February. Habeck was a writer before entering politics. He began his political career as a minister in Schleswig-Holstein, among other things, before being elected co-chair of the Green Party with Annalena Baerbock in 2018.
