What experiences did you make during the transition period of the 1980s and 1990s? Researchers from the project “Reconstituting Publics through Remembering Transitions” affiliated with the Polish Academy of Sciences, TU Dortmund University and the University of Groningen invite people of all ages, professions and genders to a workshop in which they can talk about their memories and experiences of the Wende.

The workshop lasts about six hours and includes a series of group exercises focusing on memories of the Wende period. The participants, whose experiences will be included in the research project, will receive an expense allowance of 50 euros. Participation is open not only to contemporary witnesses but also to people who did not directly experience the Wende period – but who were nevertheless affected by it. No preparation is necessary.

About the research project

The event is part of a Constructive Advanced Thinking (CAT) research project entitled “Reconstituting Publics through Remembering Transitions: Facilitating Critical Engagement with the 1980-90s on Local and Transnational Scales”. The project, conducted by Agnieszka Mrozik, Ksenia Robbe, Andrei Zavadski and the Transition Dialogue network, is dedicated to the dialogical remembering of the transition period of the 1980s and 1990s in several European countries, including Poland and Germany.
