Abeneko & The Positive Mind (Tanzania)
The five-piece band led by singer, songwriter, guitarist and choreographer Isack Abeneko from Dar es Salaam already brought the Schlüter Courtyard to life in 2023. Now they are back to present their latest songs on an extensive European tour. Abeneko describe their music as “bongo fusion”, a mix of bongo flava and various influences ranging from Nigerian highlife to ultra-fast singeli.
Their music aims to promote traditional and contemporary Tanzanian music, dance and culture and make it internationally visible. The creative head of the band has already appeared on stage at the Humboldt Forum as part of the dance performance VINYAGO.
Abeneko & The Positive Mind at DURCHLÜFTEN 2023
This year we begin a cooperation with the Zanzibar, Tanzania festival Sauti Za Busara to help build a bridge to the African continent, by offering a few slots from the festival to help the chosen artists reach new audiences and potential bookers and festival organizers. This year our friends, the band Abeneko & the Positive Mind returns & the duo Mabantu both from Dar es Salaam will be performing to begin this cooperation.
