For years the Pantopia Music project has been exploring and releasing contemporary music beyond the European canon. On this evening they present a selection of exceptional projects from the Pantopia label.
Merve Salgar & Anil Eraslan combine the finest sounds of the Tanbur (Turkish long-necked lute with up to 48 frets) with cello improvisations, taking the audience to unimagined musical and emotional heights. Salgar originally studied with tanbur virtuoso Sadun Aksüt at the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory before moving to Strasbourg and later forming the improvisational music group “Savt” with Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu and Canfeza Gündüz. In 2020, she was invited to perform as a solo artist for Marina Abramovic’s exhibition Akıs/Flux at Sakip Sabanci Museum in Istanbul. Cellist, composer and improviser Anıl Eraslan works between Berlin, Paris, Strasbourg and Istanbul. From traditional Anatolian music to experimental, loud and free music, he multiplies his experiences with ensembles such as Klub Demboh, Trickster Orchestra, Eponj, Racines, H’, Sousta Politiki and many other creative musician:s from around the world.
