Belaku Chitra Nataka, a vibrant theater troupe founded in 2019 during the Rajyotsava celebrations, has quickly become a cornerstone of the international Kannada cultural scene. Based in Berlin, Germany, this dynamic group has mesmerized audiences with an array of theatrical performances, including standout plays such as “Premachurna,” “Kunta Kunta Kuravatti,” “Gandaskatri,” and “Jagadambeya Beedi Nataka.”
One of their most celebrated productions, “Muddanna Promotion Prasanga,” is a delightful Kannada comedy social drama directed by Sandeep Manjunath and written by Rajendra Karanth. This play comically unravels the tale of Mudanna, an office worker yearning for a promotion, who finds himself ensnared in a whirlwind of chaotic and humorous events after a friend’s mischievous suggestion to stage a drama about his promotion. This production has been enthusiastically received and performed at venues such as Theater JARO in Berlin.
Beyond their theatrical prowess, Belaku Chitra Nataka has also ventured into other artistic realms. They produce original songs and visual presentations that they share on platforms like Instagram and YouTube. One of their standout songs, “Jayatu Janani,” garnered acclaim during the Republic Day celebrations at the Indian Embassy in Berlin. Additionally, their presentation “Nayakidevi,” which narrates the heroic victory of a Kadamba princess over an invader, was particularly well-received during the lockdown period for its inspiring content and innovative production despite the constraints.
