The inclusive soup kitchen of Kunstwerkstatt Kreuzberg is coming to BERLIN GLOBAL at the Humboldt Forum! On Museum Sunday, we will cook and eat together in the Schlüterhof – and you are cordially invited.

The inclusive soup kitchen was created in autumn 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic as an initiative of the Kunstwerkstatt Kreuzberg of Lebenshilfe Berlin e.V.

Initially, cooking and eating together outdoors was a way to combat loneliness and isolation. Cooking in solidarity in the Bilgisaray neighbourhood shop and eating together in the Open Garden on Moritzplatz quickly became a regular event for the neighbourhood

This is how it should be in the Schlüter Courtyard on this Museum Sunday: Here, people can come together who rarely meet in everyday life or perhaps only share public spaces. Whether homeless or houseless, in need or not – the kitchen is there for everyone.

The Kunstwerkstatt Kreuzberg

The Kunstwerkstatt Kreuzberg is an open programme for creative development and is run by David Permantier.

In addition to the artistic process, dialogue about art and social issues is important. To this end, the artists are active in many places in Berlin. They are also involved in socio-political issues: for example, they read out statements at the “Indivisible” demonstration and cook for homeless people.

Since the opening of BERLIN GLOBAL, the members of Kunstwerkstatt Kreuzberg have been working closely with the Stadtmuseum Berlin. In 2021, the artists designed the open-air exhibition “Un certain regard. Everyone belongs!

For two consecutive years, the Kunstwerkstatt has hosted a joint print workshop in the Schlüter Courtyard of the Humboldt Forum.
