How does silence sound? Can you hear the atmosphere? Do trees and plants talk? Whether in music, in conversations or when listening to the chirping of birds: what people hear and how is shaped by their experiences and surroundings and often happens unconsciously. In this workshop, the participants devote themselves to communication in nature and the audibility and visualization of electromagnetic signals. They try out creative methods that challenge their own hearing and everyday listening while visiting different locations in the Humboldt Forum. The exhibition “Ts’uu – Cedar: Of Trees and People” teaches them about the multifaceted relations between humans and the environment in the Canadian coastal rain forest of British Columbia.

In the Humboldt Forum's foyer there is a 17 meter high media tower, called "cosmograph". It gives visitors comprehensive information about their visit and can transform into an art and light installation.
